【Event Review】Environment and Conservation Fund| Food Commons@Shatin |Wet Market Recycling Experience

2025-10-15

On Monday, students from Sha Tin College participated in a "Food Recycling Experience Activity" at Tai Wai Market. Under the guidance of recycling workers, the students went into the market to collect surplus vegetables, pushed heavy handcarts, and delivered the food to the Sha Tin Women's Association Tai Wai District Service Centre. After sorting and distribution, the fresh vegetables were finally delivered to the elderly and underprivileged families. Everyone was fully engaged, working hard and showing love!A total of 365 kilograms of food was successfully recycled that day!

Without the recycling team's constant collection on Friday nights, this food would end up in landfills, wasting resources and denying individuals in need of assistance.  A pupil commented: "I never knew recycling was not only environmentally friendly but also very meaningful!"  "I never imagined so many elderly people would come to collect vegetables; it was so touching!"  Every action eliminates waste, nourishes the community, and improves the physical and emotional health of everyone involved.  If you'd like to participate in the next event, please like our page and keep an eye out for the latest news!
